About This Event

The 麻豆官网首页入口 Concert Orchestra presents a programme of orchestral favourites at Great Yarmouth鈥檚 Hippodrome. Whirligig waltzes from Rodgers and Hammerstein鈥檚 Carousel and from Khachaturian鈥檚 ballet Masquerade set things spinning. Written for a dance spectacle featuring 50 elephants, Stravinsky鈥檚 Circus Polka brings all the colour and wit of the big top, reflecting the Hippodrome鈥檚 original purpose as a circus venue. As well as a new commission from British composer Sarah Rodgers, the programme features pieces by two earlier towering figures of English music: Walton鈥檚 stirring coronation march Crown Imperial and Vaughan Williams鈥檚 ever-popular soaring piece for solo violin and orchestra, The Lark Ascending.
