Argentine composer Hilda Dianda (born 100 years ago this April) explores playful avant-garde textures, while 鈥楲uminance鈥� by Canadian composer Micheline Coulombe Saint-Marcoux contrasts live instruments with electronic timbres to create illuminating soundscapes. In her orchestral version of 鈥楾he Northern Shore鈥�, fellow countrywomen Barbara Monk Feldman evokes the landscape and atmosphere of the northern shores of Canada 鈥� a reflection on its vast and desolate beauty.
