Paul Van Nevel and the Huelgas Ensemble mine the rich and rarely performed repertoire of Renassiance and Baroque Poland in motets by Ziele艅ski, Klabon, Demantius and Marenzio, including the earliest-known setting of a Polish text, the mid-15th-century 鈥楥hwa艂a tobie, Gospodznie鈥� (Praise to Thee, O Lord).

About this event

Continuing the exploration of Polish music in this year鈥檚 Proms, Paul Van Nevel and the Flemish singers and instrumentalists of the Huelgas Ensemble explore the little-known choral music of 15th- and 16th-century Poland.

Motets by Polish composers Miko艂aj Ziele艅ski and Krzysztof Klabon are contrasted with works by Christoph Demantius and Johannes Wanning in a programme of intriguing polyphonic discoveries from the archives of the University Library of Warsaw that includes the earliest surviving setting of a Polish text: 鈥楥hwa艂a tobie, Gospodzinie鈥� (Praise to Thee, O Lord).
