Concert Information
Ben Glassberg closes the 麻豆官网首页入口 Philharmonic鈥檚 2022-23 Bridgewater Hall season with a dazzling programme of twentieth century treasures. Starting with a whisper from one of Britain鈥檚 lesser-known composers, Ethel Smyth鈥檚 Prelude to Act II, 鈥極n the Cliffs of Cornwall鈥 from The Wreckers precedes and predicts Britten鈥檚 revolutionary operas and is equally as tantalising as it is radiant. Britten鈥檚 bravura Piano Concerto, a welcome chance for Steven Osborne to show off his virtuosic flair in the glistening textures and quirky interplay between piano and orchestra. Lastly, an explosive showstopper in the Symphonic Dances 鈥 Rachmaninov鈥檚 love-letter to his homeland and his final work.
