Experience the classical music stars of tomorrow – the most exciting young performers from right across Europe. All competing for one of the world’s most prized competition titles: Eurovision Young Musicians 2018. For its 19th edition, the biennial Eurovision Young Musicians contest makes its very first visit to Scotland, presented by the Edinburgh International Festival, the European Broadcasting Union, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Scotland, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 3 and broadcast online at Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Arts Digital.

With previous winners including such eminent figures as Julian Rachlin, Natalie Clein, Isabelle van Keulen and Julia Fischer – and a jury made up of outstanding musicians from throughout the continent – Eurovision Young Musicians is one of the most respected music competitions.

The Competition Final will be broadcast across Europe from the Usher Hall with the winner chosen by a jury that will include composer Sir James MacMillan and conductor Marin Alsop. Each of the six finalists will perform a concerto movement with the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú SSO conducted by its Chief Conductor, Thomas Dausgaard.

19 August 2018: "It is good news for the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Russia and Slovenia! After watching all 18 participants perform in six Semi-Finals over the course of 18 and 19 August, the Semi-Final Jury announced the six finalists:

Indi Stivín (Czech Republic) - double bass
Mira Foron (Germany) - violin
Máté Bencze (Hungary) - saxophone
Birgitta Elisa Oftestad (Norway) - cello
Ivan Bessonov (Russia) - piano
Nikola Pajanović (Slovenia) - violin"

On the evening of 23 August, Ivan Bessonov was announced the winner of Eurovision Young Musicians 2018.

A recording of the Eurovision Young Musicians 2018 Competition Final will be broadcast on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 3 on Friday afternoon 24 August, at 2.00pm.

The Competition Final concert is part of 2018's Edinburgh International Festival.
