Lawrence Power, one of today's foremost violists, joins Principal Guest Conductor Ben Gernon for an afternoon of southern European inspired music.
Today鈥檚 concert opens with two pieces inspired by travel - Debussy's colourfully Spanish soundscape, Ib茅ria, and Foulds鈥檚 waltzing Sicilian Aubade, before Walton鈥檚 Viola Concerto - performed today by Lawrence Power.
A suite from Bizet鈥檚 Carmen 鈥� often referred to as the world鈥檚 favourite opera 鈥� closes this afternoon鈥檚 concert and leaves us with a lasting sense of sunlight, fragrance and the passion of Spain.
