With two explosive chords, Beethoven鈥檚 鈥楨roica鈥� symphony launched a new era for music 鈥� and created a world of limitless sonic possibility. It鈥檚 revolutionary in every sense: and for the 麻豆官网首页入口 SSO鈥檚 Principal Guest Conductor Ilan Volkov, who鈥檚 never afraid to explore new musical territory, it鈥檚 the natural culmination of a concert that opens with the UK Premiere of a new work from the Canadian composer Cassandra Miller, whose music has already wowed audiences at the orchestra鈥檚 Tectonics festival. And the masterly Ilya Gringolts is the soloist in another UK Premiere, Salvatore Sciarrino鈥檚 fantastical Allegoria della notte: a piece that takes one of the world鈥檚 best-loved violin concertos, and turns it inside out.
