In this early evening concert, the exceptional young musicians of Guildhall School of Music and Drama survey Boulez’s formative chamber works. From strikingly bold solo works for piano and violin, to shimmering ensemble pieces, the unique vibrancy of Boulez’s instrumental writing is revealed with sparkling clarity. The concert closes with Boulez’s twelve miniatures for solo piano, which Boulez playfully composed to make fun of the twelve tone serialism technique being used by some of his contemporaries. The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Symphony Orchestra presents his orchestrated versions of some of these Notations in the 7.30pm concert later today.
