It's hard to imagine that a single detail on the production of "Three Kings" has been left out on the DVD release. There are so many extra features on this disc that you're in danger of forgetting that there's a film there as well.
Some of the added extras are a little dull but a video journal shot by director David O Russell on trying to get the green light to make "Three Kings" is quite interesting. Various other little nuggets like the tongue in cheek "An Intimate Look Inside the Acting Process with Ice Cube" is very amusing and the interview with the cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel sheds a lot of light on the veneer of the movie.
The grainy quality of the picture is not a symptom of the DVD but is the intended shooting style of the film. A bleaching process that retains all the unused silver in the film stock was used to give the movie a high contrast, grainy look, and this looks great on DVD.
The 5.1 sound mix will keep your amplifier busy throughout with plenty of pumping tunes, gunfire and tank fire.
Look out also for 'hidden nuggets' or easter eggs on the disc that reveal even more extra features. Fans of "Three Kings" will love this DVD. And that's a fact.
