Mad car chases and irate policemen? Must be a Burt Reynolds movie. Sure enough, "The Cannonball Run" is the latest 80s flick to be dusted down and shined up for DVD release.
Transferred to DVD by the team that brings you all those Hong Kong Legends discs, the picture quality is pretty good. The opening titles are a bit grainy, but the image soon settles down for trouble-free viewing.
There's a brand new 5.1 sound mix to help freshen up the movie, and it tackles the music score with a fair bit of gusto. Combine this with the directional effects of the cars driving between the speakers and there's a whole lot more fun to be had from this old flick than ever before on video.
The only extras are two trailers, but do take a look at the new UK trailer produced for the DVD. After watching that, you'll be desperate to see "The Cannonball Run" - honest!
