After delighting the punters in both London and on Broadway, The History Boys is the second of Alan Benett's plays to jump to the big screen (His first, The Madness Of King George, garnered the playwright an Oscar nomination). A characteristically erudite combo of clasroom - and sexual - politics, clashing traditions and randy schoolboys, the play stars stage stalwarts Richard Griffiths and Frances De La Tour alongside a bevy of young Brit actors, including Dominc Cooper and Russell Tovey, as sixth-form students groomed for Oxbridge.
