THE BIG RELEASE
Seabiscuit
Advance word: Laura Hillenbrand's award-winning sports book chronicled the story of horseracing legend Seabiscuit, a horse credited with lifting the spirit of the American people during the 30s. The film adaptation by Gary Ross stars Tobey Maguire as jockey Red Pollard, with Jeff Bridges and Chris Cooper as horseowner and trainer, respectively. Americans have been stirred by the nags-to-riches tale; Brits may prefer to wait for the Red Rum story.

Coming up on the stand side of Seabiscuit we have The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That's by a nose from Alien: The Director's Cut, followed by In The Cut, a few strides ahead of In America. And now the full SP... The revamped version of Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic stars Jessica Biel, Jonathan Tucker, and Andrew Bryniarski as Ol' Leatherface himself. Can he still cut it? We have our doubts. Ridley Scott can - and does - cut his 1979 sci-fi/horror classic, although you may struggle to spot the difference. In The Cut sees Meg Ryan get entangled in murder and a detective (Mark Ruffalo), in Jane Campion's steamy thriller. Finally, Samantha Morton and Paddy Considine find themselves In America, in Jim Sheridan's latest drama.
