| Ground cover
- Patches or ‘drifts’ of spreading plants look lovely
- They only require minimal maintenance
- They stop weeds from growing, making them even lower maintenance
- For more variety, have taller plants growing up through the drifts
- Give alchemilla, lamium and ajuga a try
|
![Domed](/staticarchive/cdb7cf8fa18505777512347b1ae614bdff493775.jpg) | Domed
- Plants with a rounded form look especially pretty in groups
- Or when mixed with spiky, spreading or upright plants to strike a contrast
- Low-growing asters and sedums look particularly good
|
Foamy (or ‘frothy’)
- Plants have an airy shape
- Excellent way of filling spaces
- Provide great contrast with ‘dense’ plants
- Gypsophila and thalictrum are great choices
