In addition to the very popular half-hardy annual nemesias, easily raised from seed and growing fast to flowering size in a huge range of varieties, there are a number of perennial forms. These have been rarely seen until recent years when they have found popularity as unusual patio plants. Perennial nemesias, such as the crisp white, large-flowered 'Innocence', are mainly derived from N. caerulea (N. foetens) and require a different cultural regime as they are grown from cuttings. The plants prefer moist soils, but loose and sandy, and extra watering may be needed in a dry season. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
