Hailing from Portsmouth, Helsinki was born when drummer Jonny Callender and Hayley Alker听 collaborated to produced their first contemporary and experimental release.

The self-titled allbum features atmospheric textures, lush guitars, evolving rhythms, beautiful melodies and richly entwined Air or Goldfrapp-esque chill out.

Former cranes drummer Jonny is the senior programmer and looks after all the recording production while Hayley Alker is the main writer and vocalist and also plays Render Rhodes piano.

They've been joined by LJ Jenkins and Les Black on guitars and Andrew Booth on bass.

Hayley explained how their writing and production processes work: "It starts in the studio, I draft out ideas and we realise the project.听 We record as many different sounds听and after that we make the record we work out how to deliver it live."

The band have all got kids so if a big tour is on the cards, childcare could be a priority, as they told Phil Jackson: "The first thing we'd do is get a list of nannies and an extra tour bus - a tour buggy - and work it into the budget!"
