I remember one night when we had an air raid we were all huddled up in our shelter as normal.
When it got to morning we heard the "all clear" signal and came out. Later we found out that one family, who were friends of ours from school, had gone back into their house that morning before the All Clear.
Just after that a direct hit from a bomb totally destroyed their home, killing every member of that family.
It totally destroyed their house, and left a gap in the row of houses where theirs should have been. If only they had waited for the All Clear.
