It was only a small shelter, but we made it that it was alright. Across one end we made a bed so my daughter could sleep there. Most of the time she slept through it anyway. You鈥檇 hear bang, bang and all the rest of it and there she鈥檇 be asleep. My friend, her husband, her mother and myself would sit in the middle. We鈥檇 be in and out of the shelter and saying 鈥淗ere鈥檚 another one coming,鈥 and we鈥檇 all be ducking. Sometimes we were in all night. During the May 1941 Blitz, the big blitz of Liverpool, we were in every night and sometimes during the day.
