During another raid, a series of incendiary bombs were dropped. One landed in Sandgate Road where I lived. The road was evacuated but my father refused to leave his house, so we were the only ones left (busy sticking tape on windows). The bomb did not go off, but was found several years later embedded under the garden wall.

This story was submitted to the People's War site by volunteer Sue Craig on behalf of Beryl Libin, and has been added to the site with her permission. Beryl fully understands the site's terms and conditions.
