This story was submittedto the People's War site by Louisa Pointon, a volunteer on behalf of Donald Pointon and had been submitted to the site with his permission. Donald Pointon fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

The bomb dropped 20ft away from the basement shelter we were staying in causing the wall to cave in and cover everybody with dust and rubble. Within minutes we were flooded with water! We stayed in the shelter all night. In the morning, we found a massive crater in Kywicks Lane. It turned out that after the bomb had hit, an open truck carrying water for fire fighting had overturned in the crater, emptying out the water into the road which is why we were so wet!
