My father was an Air Raid warden. He would come for mum, brother, sister and myself on some evenings to take us down to the shelters (depending on where he was on duty). After a while of being in the shelter a warden would come down with a galvanised bucket and put it behind a screen. My earliest memory is the sound of the ladies 'peeing' in the bucket! Later on they would come down to ask if everyone had finished, then take the bucket away.
