As a little girl i contracted bronchial pnuemonia and was taken into Hope Hospital in Salford, Manchester. I was in an oxygen tent due to the severity of my condition, and remember parental visits took the form of being peered at through a hole in the door so as not to worsen my condition.
It was from this viewpoint i experienced the attack upon the hospital. I remember the sirens wailing late into the night, followed by the nurses rushing to drag all the childrens beds from the outer walls of the ward, to the centre of the room, whilst still in my oxygen tent we remained inside whilst the hospital itself came under attack.
Whilst we remained safe within the hospital, sadly, a direct hit fell upon the nurses home, killing a number of the nurses. The one i remember as Nurse Mona was killed outright in the raid.
