Barbara Crosher told of her Uncle Phil, a true practical joker, who received some of his own medicine during World War. Phil was always bragging that he was scared of nothing.

While on duty at the Infirmary one night he received a call to collect a body from Ward 2, to be taken to the ward. Two of Phil鈥檚 friends had set him up and the gag, as planned, was that the 鈥榖ody鈥 would start to moan just as they were entering the morgue. Phil was halfway across the yard between the Ward and the Morgue when the air raid sirens started to sound. At this, the 鈥榗orpse鈥 sat bolt-upright declaring, 鈥淭hat鈥檚 it for me, the raids were absolute murder last night!鈥 and pelted away looking for shelter. Phil was left in the middle of the courtyard, laughing and wondering just who this joke was on.
