In 1942/43 I was stationed in Kent (Bearstead) and the local farms needed Land Army Girls. The problem was that there was no transport to fetch them so they asked us if we could provide a 3 ton truck to transport the girls from the station. We only had 1 truck si I drove to the railway station to get the girls. They were gorgeous, I had never seen anything like it! They worked really hard during the week but at 4pm on Friday they would down tools no matter what they were doing and high tail it back to London. It turned out that they were all models and after working hard all week they went home to be models again for the weekend, coming back to us each Monday morning!
