As a 麻豆官网首页入口 story gatherer, I am writing the memories of Fred Townsend from Oxfordshire who was 23 years old.
He remembers the day Montgomery was reviewing the troops in Scarborough getting ready for D. Day. It was at the Driffield Aerodrome. They were on the hillside with a mobile gun in firing position. They could see the King George鈥檚 car coming into view and go past; the mobile gun then followed the King鈥檚 car. At that very moment someone, unknown to Fred, stood on the firing pedal, by accident, and to the amazement of the group, they watched the tracker bullet fly towards the King鈥檚 car. They stood and watched it fly over the top of his car just missing. It landed in some trees. How different history could have been on this day in 1945 ?
