My wartime memories are of my father in the airforce stationed locally at Scampton, Dunholme, Coddington.

When airforce personnel got a 24 hour pass Dad invited them to our house where they could spend the day and invite their wives down to stay.

Regarding air raids I remember my tongue swelling up with fear from the sirens and the thought of the Germans coming to get me.

I also remember the bomb dropping on Bagholme Road School in Lincoln at the time I was suffering with whooping cough.

The day my brother was christened the 6th August 1942 a bomb was dropped on the nurses home at the county hospital.

The thing I missed most during the war was Cadburys chocolate ( the chocolate in the purple paper I called it )
