During the war I worked in the kitchens making sure that the soldiers were properly fed.

I had to get up at 5am to make breakfast. The morning shift was always hard becuase we had 150 soldiers coming in at the one time, all looking for their porridge in the morning.

The evening shift was not so bad, because the men all came in on a rota system. When you were on the evening shift you had to peel all the potatoes for the next day, becuase they were too busy to do it.
