London Blitz: Childhood Memories of Walthamstow

I was 5 years old living in the above when I was evacuated to Wellingborough on a farm, after a while I joined my mother in Dunstable who at tyhe time was pregnant although I did not realise this. It seems I was brought home for Christmas 1939 and my sister was born on the 23rd of December 1939 I can remember having the best christmas of all that year.
I never returned to Dunstable but remained home
When the blitz started I can remember going into the shelter in the garden, but soon after that we started sleeping under the stairs. I cannot remember my father joining the R>A>F> all I know I was taken to /Weston Super Mare where he was training, he was posted to Whitehall in London as my Mother was quite ill through out the war.
I remember the Air raids and bombs dropping as we had an ack ack staion in a field behind us, and used to collect shrapnell to swap after the raids. I also remember the doodlebugs and watched in my garden as one stopped overhead and glided into the local dairy, also I was told the 2nd VE Rocket to fall on London fell on the trolley bus depot in Walthamstow. I can remember a rocket going through the sky one lunch time as I walked home this hit an housing estate where my aunt lived lots were home for lunch and although the rocket landed on a house 2 doors from my Aunt no one was killed..
The School I attended was Chapel End this was right next door to an ARP Shelter so we children saw plenty of casualty being taken there.It was a very tense time but the community always were there to help one another.
I do have a few photos one in particular of Sir Winston Churchill that my father took as he was an RAF Phtographer during the War
