During the we had a concrete Anderson's shelter. I can only remember using it once -we were in the middle of a tea party and we had to rush down to the shelter leaving everything on the table.

The Anderson's shelter was in four sections, four circular rings. After the war it was split up: the end was laid on its back and made into a sandpit. The other sections were put on end and are still to this day being used as a compost heap in my garden!
