This contribution was provided at an event attended by 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Norfolk. The story has been submitted to the website with the permission and on behalf of Mr. Gordon Thomas____________________ I was 5 years of age in 1940 when The Blitz took place in Birmingham. My family lived in Rutland Terrace, off Crabtree Road. There was a row of twelve terrace houses and my parents Mr and Mrs Thomas lived at No.12.
All the houses had cellars which were used as air raid shelters, but the residents of the street decided to knock down the walls in between each cellar. This was so if a bomb did drop no one family would be trapped in their own cellar with no means of escape.
To this day I have wondered whether in Rutland Terrace, Birmingham Central there is still what could be best described as an underground passage? I would be interested to find out if anybody knows the answer.
