I can remember as a young boy going out to play and silver paper snowing down from the sky.

The reason why was they were testing the radar system.

We also got lots of sweets and gum from Americans who were lodging up the road.

I can remember dad rushing us (my sister and I) into the air-raid shelter. The skies were lit up as bombs dropped.

In the morning, when we went back to our house, I remember light from the windows coming through the pin hole pricks in the blinds.
