This story has been written onto the 麻豆官网首页入口 People鈥檚 War site by CSV Story gatherer Jessica on behalf of Derek Woodward. They fully understand the terms and conditions of the site.
Timber, tyres and steel all were rationed. Tyres - some had short lives. Hubert Battands (Scoriton) Bedford was allocated 825 - 20 Michelins cost 拢6 for his cattle truck, fitted in the morning of the Wednesday Newton Abbot market run. On leaving that afternoon someone had left the security gates' steel flap up and that tyre was no more!
Because of the shortage of tyres a new word entered the English language - Remoulds.
