This is George Pirie's story; it has been added by a Volunteer from Crawley 19th Sqdn ATC, with permission from the author, who understands the terms and conditions of adding his story to the website.
1948 I was stationed in Stanley Barracks Hong Kong. One of my duties was Japanese war crime escort. On one occasion, I was detailed with two others and a sergeant to go to Stanley prison in a 15 CWT lorry and collected the bodies of two Japanese soldiers who had been hung for war crimes.
We took them to Repulse Bay, which is now a holiday resort. We put the bodies in a small boat, took them out to sea, the bodies were weighted down and we cast them over the side.
