Nine Nottingham Victory Babies

"This story was submitted to the site by the 麻豆官网首页入口's Peoples War Team in the East Midlands with Maisie Hilda Powells permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions"

On the night of 15th/16th August 1945 I was in the maternity ward at Basford Maternity Hospital. The sister ran in shouting excitingly "The War is over, come on Maisie lets have a victory baby". Between then and 12 noon the next day nine babies were born and mine was the 9th. The above photo was taken and published in the Nottingham Evening News. Please note that the babies are with the nurses rather than their mothers as today.
