A Wellington bomber crashed at the back of our family shop in Digbeth. I was aged 4 at the time and I remember seeing the pilot鈥檚 body being lifted out in two pieces by a policeman.
When I was 7 years old I remember Churchill and Montgomery coming past our shop in a jeep.
