we lived in the countryside in Northern Ireland during WW2. we had evacuees stay with us and i remember one lad in particular was always getting into trouble. We had a castle in our village. The british army were stationed there and then the American Army. My mum was very involved in the voluntary services. we often had fancy dress parades to boost morale. I remember one sister being dressed as Montgomery, another was Lord Teddy,I was Churchill and a younger suster was a sailor. mother made all the outfits. I remember having to save half pennies for the war effort and seeing bombs falling and flashes when Belfast was bombed.
