This story may already have been told, but it is important to me as I grew up during World War Two on the Cape Peninsula and remember this dog being a legend at the time. So just in case, lest we forget…
There was a remarkable Great Dane called Just Nuisance, which was famous for keeping an eye on British troops so no harm came to them. Sailors would go by train between Cape Town to Simons town when they had time off and were often worse for wear through drink! It was 20 miles and there were 27 stations. Just Nuisance ran between stations making sure they were safe, stayed on the train and came to no harm.
There is a statue in Simonstown in his honour.
