When I was a child we had seen a family of evacuees out on the street. So we took them in for a week, but that ended up as 18 months. We had to sleep in our air raid shelters so the evacuees could have a bed to sleep in. The really sad thing was the Grandma of the evacuees got run over by a car while she was with us.
