He worked all through the second world war at the GWR, starting at 6 a.m., until 8 p.m.. He had to arrive early at work to open up for the shift. As an oiler and greaser, it also meant climbing high ladders. He was a fine honest hard working man all his life, with many talents, little schooling, as one left school at twelve years in those days.
