I am interested in ww2 because in 1939 when war was declared I was 9 years old,I was at school
coomb road school brighton sussex ,I was living with my mother,5 brothers &1 sister my father had
passed away one of my brothers bernard was already in the navy when the war started,my eldest brother was among the first men to be called up.after a short period he wassent to north africa with I believe the,(royal sussex
regiment)as a bombadier,my self and two younger brothers were sent to yorkshire as evacuees,to a
viliage called notton, we wernt there very long
aswe pleaded to our mother to take us back home
which after a short time she did so. getting back home we continued going to school.during the
battle of britain i used to puton a tin helmet and go up to brighton race course, and watch the dog
fights over the english channel i saw some amazing sights allbeit feeling scared stiff,
