We are running a programme of activities to collect local residents' memories of the war, to make a permanent record of people's experiences that will help future generations to understand what life was like during the war. These reminiscences will be made available to library users and schools.
In order to collect people's stories, we will be holding reminiscence sessions for groups of up to six people, where they can share their memories and look at photographs and other wartime memorabilia from the library's collection. These sessions will be recorded and then typed out so that each person's contribution is preserved in writing.
We are very keen to collect a range of memories so, whether you were in the armed forces, an evacuee, a land girl, a member of the home guard...we would like to hear your story.
If you would be interested in contributing your memories to our collection, please leave a message here or contact us at fiona.hukins@kent.gov.uk.
