I now live in the South West of England, am a widow and my parents died many years ago, so I have to rely on my memory for the events around the time of the evacuation. On a recent visit to Guernsey with my son and his partner we spent a great deal of time checking public records at the archives offices to try to discover more details of the crossings, passenger lists etc and it seems that either no records were kept or they were destroyed. The Guernsey Occupation Museum has provided some details but I would like to hear from anyone who has any information about the names and numbers of people who were evacuated. I would also like to hear from anyone who remembers the family home on the cliffs above Petit Bot, which was destroyed by the Germans to make a gun emplacement. Does anyone remember Margaret Carbury who was a school friend of mine and was evacuated to Lancashire?
