My parents were both in the RAF and met in Malaya. My mum, Geraldine Poulton, was living in Jersey at the time the Germans invaded, and was evacuated. Her family returned to Leamington where they had lived when she was younger. My dad, Kenneth Roy Cox, known as Roy came from Pembroke Dock in Wales. My mum always told me that the war was one of the happiest times of her life, and I can understand that. She escaped a not particularly happy home life with a stepmother to whom she was not close and had the opportunity to travel the world.
