My sister Betty married Bill Edwards in 1942; Joyce and Peter Bird were wed in 1944, both in St John's Anglican Co-Cathedral, Malta , where John and I were 'spliced' a year later. Poor old Dad! At the present time I will add no further particulars about myself other than those I have given you in 'Rene's War'.If anyone recognises me from that , please correspond. I would dearly love to hear from 'Mac' Roberta Macleod , Dulsie Worley , Irene Cameron ,Hazel Bethel, Irene Spanton , 'Derek' whom I mention , ML skippers Johnnie Main and Hank Brodie (the Canadian), and Ted Leblanc Smith.
I do NOT want to hear from 'Peter' - he will recognise himself.
Bob Fry invited me to a wonderful supper on board the USS Mayrant ( have I spelled her correctly?) where I was the only guest. The officers may remember the starving British girl who ate every scrap of everything put before her , even the potato-skins. I was too young to be suitably impressed by the presence there of President Roosevelt's son. All I recall about him was his abysmal table manners but mine must have seemed almost as strange to the others in the wardroom . I blush when I think of their carefully discarded potato skins!
Any American bells ringing?
