I'm too young to know much about the war - I wasn't born until 1948. My uncle was in the Navy - he ran away to sea when he was 14 and stayed in the Navy all his life. My mother worked at Morris Motors in Oxford all her life too.
I am really interested to find out if anyone remembers my uncle - Reginald Carter. He lived in Portsmouth and Fareham (the family lived in Oxford). I know he served on Renown and the Hood and that he went on one of the ships that went on the World tour taken by Prince/King Edward. Apart from that I know virtually nothing. I believe he worked as an electrician and may have eventually have become a Leading seaman (on Hood??). He was not on the Hood on her last voyage. Was he ill or had he transferred? I don't think it was the latter.
Any information however seemingly irrelevant would be of interest.
