I was born in 1937 to Edward Henry Brook and his wife Mary, formally Pennington. Mary was the sister of Norman Pennington, who was in the Northumberland Fusiliers, and she wrote the history of his war experiences. She died in January 2002.

I remember my uncle very well, particularly his wedding to Edith during the war, his first leave and his discharge after his accident. The most important thing I remember about his leave was the huge block of milk chocolate about 12in square that he brought for Christmas!

When he was discharged he bacame a Chelsea Pensioner but never took up residence in London.
Edith is at present aged 93 and in a nursing home in Rotherham. Unfortunately she is now blind and doesn't recognise or remember anyone who comes to visit her.

I would very much like to hear from anyone who remembers Norman or Edith from their time in Rotherham or Norman whilst he was in the Northumberland Fusiliers.
