Listen to tapes while doing household chores

When I started to learn Chinese, I used to listen to tapes with pronunciation exercises while doing the washing up. Two boring jobs out of the way at once! And now all my Chinese friends compliment me on my pronunciation.

I have been working with audiobooks with my 11 year old daughter and after 6 months the results are promising. One hour everyday has meant going from zero to intermediate level

I think it helps! Phrases and pronunciation are ingrained into our mind when we listen repetitively. One more important thing is that while listening to the tapes, our mind has to listen as well..

This is exactly what I do when I learn new languages, even when I try to sleep at night, I listen to tapes spoken by native speakers, instead of listening to songs. And thank god it works, I mean, it helped me a lot in learning new languages, specially in improving my pronounciation skills.

I have studied English for over ten years now. I started to learn it at school. Speaking and listening both are very important points.I think I could easily have a conversation if my speaking and listening level were higher. I will take much more time to study English.

I have been doing this for a lot of years - listening to tapes while doing the washing up, walking my dog, cooking, gardening ... and still no progress. I failed my English exams five times.
