Free range?
On the eve of going to France for a week last winter, my partner was talking to my parents on the phone (they are French). When my parents asked him what he was up to, he replied what sounded like: "Je mets mes poules dans ma valise". My parents and I burst out laughing. My partner had just told them that he "was putting his chickens in his suitcase". What he was actually trying to say was "je mets mes pulls dans ma valise" (I am packing my jumpers). In French we say "pulls" for "jumpers" but my partner always struggles with the correct pronounciation of the "u" and "ou" sounds!

I went to France recently, and I went into a newsagents, to ask for a magazine. I said avez-vous le magasin "Almanak". I wanted to ask for a magazine but what I really said was "do you have a shop called Almanak. I should have said avez-vous le magazine "Almanak". It's all in the pronunciation.
