Mad for cucumbers
"Whilst on a French exchange when I was only 13, we visited a counter service restaurant for lunch one day. The person ahead of me ordered a lovely looking green salad, so I thought I'd ask for the same, saying encore, s'il vous plaît. However, a mixture of a poor accent and being a little shy, it came out as concombre, s'il vous plaît, so I was served with a plate of cucumber. Being shy I just took it to my table and pretended that I really wanted it. My pen pal was most amused, didn't try and help though.

Phil, is this your story? You should have helped your French with signs. Shy boy.:)
Well, Encore (un peu), s'il vous plaît actually means "more, please", like you're asking for another helping of what you already had. If you wanted what the person ahead of you had, you could say something like, la même chose (the same thing (as him/her)).
