I was angrily bilingual
Although my mother's German, I've never lived in Germany. I was chatting to some exchange students once, and explained that Ich bin zweisprachig aufgebracht. They looked at me very funny, then explained (in a tone of careful patronisation) that being aufgebracht actually means being angry. What I should have said was Ich bin zweisprachig aufgewachsen; I grew up bilingually. So much for that statement! But they still said I had good pronunciation :-).
