My Spain hurts

I took our Venezuelan exchange student to meet several of our friends in the first week that she was with us. Eager to impress, one friend decided to show off her Spanish by repeating what she had learned about aches and pains in class that day, and said: me duele la españa. We all had a good laugh when we realized she had said "My Spain hurts" instead of me duele la espalda, my back hurts. It was a running joke for the rest of the year.
